Rising Sun has been a very important part of my life for the past two summers. Last year, I applied to so many jobs and kept getting rejected. The issue being I had no work experience. Rising Sun gave me an opportunity to gain valuable job experience and this year they are now allowing me to gain valuable management and leadership experience as a LIFT (Leader in Field Training).
This year, I have learned how to manage inventory, train youth, and deal with different personalities in the workplace. These skills have improved my resume and made me more ready to enter the job market after college.
This is why Rising Sun is important to me. It provides opportunities to youth who may not easily get it elsewhere. In addition, Rising Sun sends the youth into their communities, where they can educate residents and help conserve water, lower energy bills, and combat climate change.
The youth employed by Rising Sun gain work ethic, customer service skills, and attention to detail all while making their communities a better place to live and work. Because of this, I am excited to continue working with Rising Sun this summer and hope to help build a better community in Manteca.
