The CYES Youth Council is a new program designed to empower youth and cultivate leadership through environmental advocacy and service to the community, while developing professional and business skills. Youth Council members will gain transferable skills as well as use their existing talents to craft a program from their own vision with the guidance and mentorship of a Rising Sun staff member.
Participation in the Youth Council will also demonstrate your commitment to Rising Sun and to professional development if you apply to be a LIFT Energy Specialist.
Youth Council activities will include:
- Creating and doing a community service project
- Developing a personal growth plan
- Fundraising for Youth Council
- Shaping the by-laws of Youth Council structure and organization
- Carrying out presentations to enhance Youth Council environmental knowledge and personal development
- Giving input to improve and strengthen the CYES program
Eligibility
If you answer YES to all of the following questions, you are eligible
to become a member of Youth Council:
- Have you served as a CYES Energy Specialist?
- Are you 16 to 24 years old?
- Do you live in the Bay Area year round?
- Are you interested in personal and professional development?
- Are you interested in environmental issues (i.e. energy efficiency, water conservation, global warming, etc.)?
- Are you interested in community service?
Membership Details:
- 1-year commitment
- Youth Council membership is a volunteer position
- Youth Council members will meet once a month in Berkeley
