Our green programs

Training for youth and adults

Rising Sun Energy Center provides green jobs training to youth and to adults who face barriers to employment.

Rising Sun offers four programs for youth, and one for adults training for careers in the energy efficiency sector:

California Youth Energy Services (CYES)

A summer program that trains and employs youth aged 15-22 to provide free "green house calls": efficiency upgrades to homes in their community. MORE

Leaders-in-Field-Training (LIFT)

Top employees in Rising Sun's CYES program are taught business and leadership skills. MORE

CYES Youth Council

A year-long part time volunteer service program for youth who have worked as CYES Energy Specialists. MORE

East Bay Green Job Corps Bridge Program (EBGJC)

Green job skills training and wraparound services for young adults with barriers to employment. MORE

Green Energy Training Services (GETS)

Career ladder training for entry-level jobs in the energy efficiency industry. 100 hours of classroom and hands-on training in a course approved by a panel of industry employers. MORE

As our GETS trainees graduate, some move on to work for our GETS Energy Service program. They garner hands-on experience providing energy upgrades to local homes - and the homeowner gets a healthier, more efficient home at a deep discount. MORE
